Description

Whey protein isolate at the nominal 90% level is whey protein taken through further processing — commonly microfiltration or ion exchange — to remove most of the remaining lactose and fat. The result is a higher protein content per unit weight and a substantially lower lactose level than concentrate, which is why it is chosen for lactose-sensitive formulations, clear protein beverages and premium sports nutrition where a lean macronutrient profile is the selling point. It carries a complete amino acid profile and is rich in branched-chain amino acids. The material is a white to cream powder that disperses well, particularly in instantised grades.
