Description
Rice protein is produced from rice, usually brown rice, by enzymatic separation of the protein from the starch fraction. It is hypoallergenic relative to dairy and soy proteins and is used widely in vegan and allergen-sensitive nutrition. Its amino acid profile is relatively strong in methionine and cysteine but comparatively limited in lysine — effectively the mirror image of pea protein — which is why the two are so often blended to produce a more complete profile than either alone. It is used in plant-based sports nutrition, infant and clinical nutrition, and bakery. The material is a light beige powder with a mild cereal note.
