Description

L-isoleucine is an essential branched-chain amino acid and one of the three components of a BCAA blend, normally present at the lower proportion in the standard 2 to 1 to 1 ratio. It is formulated individually where a specific ratio is being built, and as part of amino acid blends, sports nutrition products and clinical nutrition preparations. The material is a white crystalline powder with moderate solubility in water — noticeably lower than that of the more soluble amino acids — which needs allowing for in ready-to-drink formats. Like the other branched-chain amino acids it is bitter, so finished products normally include a flavour and masking system.
