Description
L-citrulline DL-malate pairs citrulline with malic acid, a Krebs cycle intermediate, and is one of the most widely formulated ingredients in the pre-workout category. The citrulline portion feeds the urea cycle and raises plasma arginine, while the malate portion is of separate interest to formulators working on energy metabolism. It is commonly supplied in 1 to 1 or 2 to 1 ratios of citrulline to malate, and the ratio materially changes the citrulline content per kilogram, so it should be stated explicitly on the specification. The material is a white to off-white powder, soluble in water, with a distinctly sour taste from the malate.
