Description
L-arginine hydrochloride presents arginine as its hydrochloride salt. The salt form is the more commonly specified of the two in formulation work because it is easier to handle, less alkaline in solution and more stable in blends than the free base. Arginine is a precursor to nitric oxide, which is why it features widely in pre-workout, cardiovascular and general sports nutrition products. It is also a standard component of amino acid infusion and clinical nutrition formulations. The material is a white crystalline powder, freely soluble in water, giving a near-neutral to mildly acidic solution. Arginine content per kilogram is lower than that of the free base.
