Description
L-serine is a non-essential amino acid that participates in the synthesis of phospholipids, sphingolipids and a number of other compounds, and is a precursor to glycine and cysteine. In formulation it appears in amino acid blends, clinical nutrition and supplement products, and it is used in cosmetics, where it forms part of the skin's natural moisturising factor and is included in hydrating preparations for that reason. The material is a white crystalline powder, freely soluble in water, with a mildly sweet taste. It is stable under normal storage conditions and is straightforward to incorporate into both dry and liquid formats.
